Autograph sketchleaf for the Ninth Symphony. The first draft of the opening of the first movement containing the earliest version of the opening tremolando, the fragmentary theme in open fifths and the fortissimo passage in D minor, covering approximately 20-30 bars, written on both sides of th leaf, with a few smaller sketches possibly for other unidentified works, no place or date [Vienna, ca. 1818]. 2 p., oblong folio, watermark IAA under a shield, notated in brown in k on 16-stave paper, some annotations in pencil, annotated by G. Nottebohm in the margin “die allereste Skizze der sinfonia No. IX,” small stiching holes.
