Copyist’s manuscript of the Ninth Symphony, engraver’s copy for the first edition [Vienna, 1824-1826]. Full score in two scribal hands in brown ink with Beethoven’s alterations throughout in brown and black ink and silverpoint, 14 staves (20 staves for last movement), with a complete set of the original mss. choral, vocal, and trombone parts also marked by Beethoven, 575 p. in all: score in 3 v., 465 p., oblong quarto (23.5 x 30 cm.) and oblong folio (27 x 40 cm.), 12-, 14-, 16-, and 20-staves, contemporary mottled blue boards, manuscript labels); parts in folder of disbound folio leaves (26 x 26 cm.), 110 p. total.
