On January 31st at 1pm, join Provost Ellen Junn and the University Library Faculty and Staff in welcoming SJSU students to the Grand Opening and Dedication Ceremony of the SJSU Student Learning and Research Commons. Located in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, the SJSU Student Learning and Research Commons is a comfortable, SJSU student space. Historically, learning commons have evolved from computer labs into a student-centered interactive environment where students can use technology to complete their research and work collaboratively with their peers on class projects. In the SJSU Learning and Research Commons, students will also be able to connect to the wireless internet, print documents and check out laptops and ipads. Staff will be available during open hours to assist with research.
The Commons is open during the spring term from 11am-7pm Monday through Thursday, Friday 11am-6pm, Saturday 10am-6pm, and 1pm-5pm on Sunday. The entrance to the SJSU Student Learning and Research Commons is located on the first floor of the library adjacent to the Children’s Room. Tower Cards are required for entrance into the Commons. There will be complimentary coffee and hourly prizes on opening day to celebrate the addition of this student-centered space to our campus.
