Using her signature form Consuelo Jiménez Underwood weaves barbed and other wire to shape her views and personal reflections of the U.S.-Mexico border. A textile artist, she weaves, sews, and embellishes the beauty, grace and dangers of the border simultaneously addressing contemporary dilemmas faced by Chicana/os. Jiménez Underwood is a globally renown artist who has displayed her work and lectured throughout the world. She is a  former professor from the School of Arts & Design at SJSU where she oversaw the Fiber/Textile program.
