I am honored to introduce and welcome you to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library at San José State University. You will find the library to be a dynamic, exciting, and energizing location with impressive collections of books and digital resources, technology, and services. We strive to facilitate the discovery and creation of knowledge through the services and resources available at the University library . The purpose of the library is to support the research and educational mission of the University. This is achieved through maintaining high quality information resources, special collections, and archives in multiple formats and through the collaboration between librarians, teaching faculty, and students. Our collaboration includes supporting students and faculty in the entire research cycle from the formulation of topics, thesis statement, or hypotheses, to the publication and dissemination of the results and conclusions.
The King library also serves as a physical place in which students and faculty can experiment with the technologies used to retrieve, store, and communicate scholarship and knowledge. Spaces are specifically designed for such inspiration and collaboration. This design incorporates strategically chosen furniture, collections, technology, and library services along with breathtaking views of the San José Valley and the University campus.
Research strongly suggests that students who use the library are more likely to get better grades and graduate earlier than those who don’t. Faculty often report that their research is improved when they collaborate with librarians. Please contact your librarian today in order to start a partnership that will lead to your success.
