Statement of Policy & Text
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Library Teen Center is located on the mezzanine in an area specifically designed and reserved for use by teens ages 12 to 18 and their caregivers, or customers using the Teen collection or seeking assistance from Library staff. The Teen Center is divided into two spaces: a reading area with a Teen collection of Library materials, and an activity area with specialized resources specifically for teens, including computers and gaming equipment, a group study area, a Recording Studio, a Makerspace, and regular and special programs targeting the needs of teens. All programs in the activity area are designed solely for teens : other programming or customer use must be approved by Library staff.
Need for the Policy
The King Library is committed to providing an inviting, safe, and separate space for teens to engage in individual and group activities responsive to their needs.
