With just a few clicks, instructors and library staff can easily upload a syllabus or any course-related file and generate a comprehensive reading list.

The AI Syllabus Assistant automatically detects references to course materials and generates an LCM list, incorporating as much detail as possible—complete references, section information, and the course title.

Step- By-Step
Step 1: Access the Syllabus Assistant

Click Create List.

Step 2: Upload a File

Select Import course materials from the dropdown of options.

- Then upload your syllabus file, or drag and drop the desired file from your computer.
- Supported formats: .pdf, .docx, and .txt.
- Or you can choose to Paste references.

The AI will begin processing the content. This may take up to a minute depending on file size and complexity.

- You'll be prompted to give your list a Title and, optionally, a Description.
- Use the Link to course field to search for your course by its name or code.
- Then Click Create List

Step 3: Finalize and Edit the List
After importing:

Review each citation in the List View.

Use LCM's standard tools to:

Reorder citations or sections.

Add tags
-
Add public notes for students.

Attach files or links if needed.

When you are finished, go ahead and publish the list.

And last, ensure you have enabled the Library Course Materials tool in Canvas, so your students have access.
