These workshops are offered once each semester, in October and April, providing general guidance on processes that apply to the everyday work of offices across campus. 


Each workshop is organized into two parts:

Part I is intended for MPPs and anyone who holds the title of records steward or has the stewardship of records as part of their responsibilities. This may include faculty, staff, administrators, and leaders of student organizations.

After attending Part I, participants will be able to . . .

  • Describe the mission and purpose of the University Archives.
  • Identify the types of records that may have archival value.
  • Begin to develop plans for transferring records to the University Archives in order to ensure preservation of and access to University History.

Part II is intended for anyone who holds the title of records steward or has the stewardship of records as part of their responsibilities, including faculty, staff, administrators, and leaders of student organizations.

After attending Part II, participants will be able to . . .

  • Conduct a records management self-assessment in order to understand the unique needs of their records ecosystems.
  • Consider how to integrate records management processes into existing systems in order to ensure sustainable long term management of records.
  • Understand the role of records stewards.
  • Apply basic processes for the stewardship of records.
