The information you find and use along the cycle of research can also be broken down into two types of sources: primary and secondary.
Primary Sources
Definition of a Primary Source: Original documents created or experienced contemporaneously with the
event being researched.
Characteristics of a Primary Source: First-had observations, contemporary accounts of the event, and
viewpoints of the time.
Examples of Primary Sources: Interviews, reports, studies, creative works, speeches, news footage, diary
entries.
