Sketchleaf for the String Quartet, Opus 59, no. 3

Sketchleaf for the second movement of String Quartet in C Major, Opus 59, no. 3. Comprising a number of drafts of varying lengths containing many radical differences from the final versions, notated in brown ink in short score on up to eleven staves including some sketches on single staves and some on systems of up to three staves each extended into the right-hand margin by the composer, with alterations and revision, with many clefs and one dynamic marking (”sf”). No place or date [Vienna, ca. 1806]. 2 p., ca. 15 x 28 cm cut from a larger leaf, 10 or 11 staves per page, some foxing and browning, three tiny holes in the left margin.With inscriptions by J.B. Cramer: “to JB Cramer by his friend August Artaria (of Vienna) in the year 1837 ... N.B. the whole of the following is in the hand writing of the illustrious & inspried Louis Van Beethoven .. JB Cramer”
